Providing interdisciplinary lessons geared towards developing an Islamic personality in third culture kids.

A graduate of Barnard College, Columbia University, I double majored in history and political science. While my kids were young, I wrote and published children' stories with Muslim characters: The Baby Garden, Alia and the Story of the Rose, The Path that Allah Made and The Sad Caterpillar.

I moved to Doha, Qatar in 2009 and started Islamic Studies classes for Muslim third culture kids (TCK). These children are unique, in that they are raised in a culture other than their parents' or the culture of the country named on their passport (where they are legally considered native) for a significant portion of their early years.

Over the last decade, I have used my skills as an educator to design lessons and activities that address my students not just as practicing Muslims, but as global citizens. I aim to impart knowledge as well as morals and beliefs that are solidly grounded in Islamic principles so that, as they move between countries and boundaries, they hold fast to the fundamental principles that unite them with the Muslim community.
